Usually, I'm not a big fan of fantasy books but this book I quite liked and found it to be well-written. I enjoyed the dark academia and magic in the book and also the secrets and lies. The world-building was well developed as well as the characters I especially liked Quell and how she was a badass character. I liked the relationship between the main characters Quell and Jordan and how it wasn't rushed. It wasn't just with Jordan though as I loved the relationships between Quell and other other characters as well. The whole magic system in general is interesting. The twists in the story were amazing. The details were well-written and thought out. I also enjoyed how captivating the book was since once I started it I found that I couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait for the next book. This was the first book by this author I read and overall I enjoyed it.
