I always enjoy when YA fantasy blends with modernity; it isn't something I've seen as often as adult urban fantasy, so this is a nice change of pace. The opening portion has lots of high fantasy elements - old families, rites, rituals, magic seeped in the blood, which stands in stark contrast with "Pink Beanie." Excited to see how the worlds blend together!
