Overall I found this excerpt to be relatively intriguing! Especially in terms of Quell's perspective, which does a really good job of establishing lots of mysteries. Still, I wasn't very drawn into the narrative itself very much, especially in terms of the bit we see from assassin's perspective, and I had a bit of trouble visualizing the magic. This book probably isn't for me, but I could see it really working for someone else.
