I like the story and what the story is supposed to be. However I think the author struggled to add context to this world and the characters. The characters are very inconsistent with how they are described (and it's not character development either) and it's kinda driving me crazy. I'm not a big fan of this authors writing style so far. I also am really struggling to picture these magic scenes in my brain but I think it's a me thing. The beginning felt really slow but the idea of the story is what intrigued me to move forward. I think these magic societies will be very interesting, as well as learning with Quell how magic works. I believe that that will help me picture some of these scenes better.
