After reading the first few chapters, I can already tell that the world of magic in this book is going to be amazing. We don’t get too much explanation in the first look, but the description of the toushana and the abilities of the Dragun were both intriguing. I also really like Quell as a main character. Later , it seems that most YA protagonists come off as whiny, annoying, and extremely disrespectful. Quell, however, was still very respectful while also wanting to know more about her life. My only problem is that the book moves a little too quickly in the first couple of chapters. So much so that it’s a little hard to get to know Quell, her mom, and their relationship. Then again, maybe if I read the whole book this will get flushed out. Grandmom is an interesting character. She doesn’t seem loving. She seems more strict and proper. I’m interested to see her relationship with Quell develop. Love the cover! I do kind of wish Quell was on the cover though. I would like to see what the crowns and masks would look like.
