This book was absolutely haunting! From the cover and description, I was expecting more of a dark fairy tale, but this book was pure horror and thrills! I was captivated from the very first chapter and finished in just two days, I just could not put this book down! These three girls had such mystery surrounding them, with several inexplicable circumstances surrounding their miraculous return, and I had to know all the answers! Sutherland did a fantastic job setting up an incredibly creepy world. Some of descriptions were horrifying and gave me nightmares. I was so caught up in the book that several times when the story was particularly tense and thrilling, noises in my house made me jump. The plot was very fast-paced and told a very intense story. There were a few elements that I guessed at pretty much right away, but there were also a couple that I did not see coming at all. And even though this is a stand-alone novel, I still have hope in my heart that there's more in the future? Maybe even just a novella? I think this may be the best book I've read so far in 2021!
