This book feels like a cross between changelings and the works of Poe. The sisters were taken and returned but are they still the same people or have they been switched and replaced by changelings? Or pod people? The title "House of Hollow" makes me think of the Poe story "The Fall of the House of Usher." The sisters in "Hollow" remind me of Madeline Usher in the Poe story. Madeline is described as ghostly and she seems mentally disturbed. The Usher family is supposedly cursed. Are these sisters in "Hollow" also cursed? The oldest sister seems to enjoy what she has become; she and the next sister help the youngest who is being bullied. The bully winds up sorry while she shaves her head in front of everyone (was she forced to by some magic power?). Are the sisters going to become evil? Are they possessed? Is there some Lovecraft dark god involved, such as Nyarlathotep? And Iris is trying to fit in. Will she? The cover is also striking; the flowers look sweet but sinister too.
