The Hollow sisters are over-the-top strange, each very different from one another but all mutually defined by their mysterious disappearance and reappearance as children, ten years ago. They don't remember what happened to them... or do they?

Now Iris, the youngest, is seventeen, and she and her middle sister Vivi must find the eldest -- fashion-world darling Grey -- after she disappears again. Along the way, Iris and Vivi team up with Grey's boyfriend Tyler, and together they navigate the path that Grey left behind.

I guessed the general gist of the twist pretty early on (though not all the details), but this in absolutely no way diminished my enjoyment of the book. The writing is great, as are the atmosphere and the characters, to a one. The whole thing was like a blend of Seanan McGuire, Maureen Johnson, and Sarah Rees Brennan.

Weird, beautiful, gross, scary, and sometimes even hilarious. Loved every moment!
