This is my first BookishFirst win and it could not have been more perfect! I wanted this book soooo badly. I mean, first of all, look at that cover! Then I read the first impression portion and I was already suffering from a book hangover just from that small portion lol.
Well, the full story did not disappoint. Oh my word! The story is as magnificently beautiful and haunting as the cover!
This is not an easy review to write as I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't discuss the plot since the summary is right up there ^, and I know many people like to go into books blind.
I thoroughly enjoyed the 'creep factor' parts of this story. It managed to be haunting and 'creepy' without being gory, which isn't always easy to do successfully. I am in absolute awe of how well written this story is and how it all came together. The ending was tidy enough, yet left me wanting more.
I'll sum it up by saying that if you like dark, modern fairy tale type stories, you need to read The Hollow House.
This was my first book by Krystal Sutherland and now I'm off to read her backlist.
