First off, the cover is stunning. I feel like it immediately tells you what kind of book to be expecting here, and absolutely fit the tone. From the weird face + nature, to the drips of blood, and the sewn on fabric to hold the text, just perfection.

The story itself was extremely weird in all the best ways, and definitely kept me wondering what was going to happen next. It was quite dark without being too much, like a modern fairytale. I liked how often I was trying to figure out what was going on, since it was mysterious and the main characters really didn't know, as they were sort of unreliable narrators not knowing where they'd disappeared to all those years ago. And without spoiling, the end was just stunning.

This is perfect for fans of Rules for Vanishing and What Big Teeth, who like their magical realism a little bit horrific and a little bit weird, fans of modern spins of fairytale vibes, and anyone looking for a great Fall read.
