As soon as I read the excerpt I knew I had to get my hands on this book. A traveling hotel brimming with magic? Yes, please. The story gives you small clues as pieces unfold and sort of keeps adding more questions to what this hotel really is and how it works. The MC, Jani, is trying to keep her younger sister safe as they both find themselves at Hotel Magnifique. Pretty quickly, Jani realizes that nothing is as it seems once they enter and as more of the inner workings are revealed she discovers that she has more allies than she thought in finding out the truths of this mysterious establishment.

While Jani was annoying, I really enjoyed Bel and Beatrice. I liked that the relationship between Bel and Jani wasn’t insta love and builds to a deeper connection. The mystery builds as the story progresses and really leaves you eager to find out exactly what is going on. The idea that a world could offer a place of refuge but ultimately at a cost was an interesting concept. It takes a while to see the real action but it paints a picture that isn’t the image of perfection it initially seemed to be. Overall, I would say it’s a great read that’s intriguing and imaginative.
