This debut dark fantasy was a fantastic read. In the beginning I was already sucked into the idea of Jani dragging her sister into this magical hotel where they can experience the secrets and wonders of real magic. I really enjoyed the entire qorld building of the actual hotel itself. The magic that encompasses it and all the guests was well thought out and gave me something new to read. Magic is often seen as good versus bad but not so much the case here.

Some parts of the middle were a little less interesting and slightly lacking. Jani spends a lot of time thinking about that inner voice yelling danger danger and doesn't listen to it. Very cliché. As the story progresses Jani figures out that Bel might be friend not foe and there's a lot of secrets he is keeping from her. Makes him untrustworthy and builds some suspense.

Towards the end the story picked up and swooped me away. The dark elements coming to light without happy endings was a surprise. I anticipated that with all the magic all will be wished well with the flick of a finger. More like all was wished imprisoned with a mere thought (sorry not giving spoilers).

Overall great story to read if you looking for something different than your typical magic book
