Hotel Magnifique is Emily J. Taylor's debut YA novel. I've been having a lot of fun reading debut books this year, so I was excited for this. It was described as The Night Circus meets Caraval and I've read and loved both those books. It's a YA fantasy paranormal historical romance book! This book has a powerful setting inspired by the Belle Epoque hotel but make in magical. Our main character is a seventeen year old named Jane. She lives a boring life until she finds this magic traveling hotel. Jani and her sister join but start figuring out secrets of the hotel with a doorman named Bel. I think this book felt a bit too much like the night circus, I just felt like it had been done before. It was also a bit confusing at times, although I enjoyed trying to figure out this huge complex puzzle. I also didn't care about the sister at all, but I liked the romance between Jani and Bel.
