It was okay
The premise of a glittering hotel filled with magic has a dark history and is filled with horrible secrets, had me really excited. I loved the descriptions of the hotel and all the different enchantments in it. Honestly, I would totally want to stay in this hotel as a guest. I loved the cool, constantly changing rooms and the themed suites. These were the highlights of the book.
While the magic system was interesting, it took a long time before the system was explained. I do wish the magic system had been clearer, as I really didn't understand it nor did the author's explanation really make it clear.
In this book, there are a lot of similarities to The Night Circus, but about halfway through it really starts to separate itself and move to a new and distinct story. This was where things got interesting and we really got to delve into the horror behind that glittering façade.
