It's been a while since I've found a book that was such a delicious fantasy that I intentionally read slower to savor the experience. Emily J Taylor brings a magical hotel to life. Guests pay a premium not only to experience the magic of the hotel and staff, but each night the Magnifique moves the hotel to a new location around the world. For those without the money, there is a chance to be given a ticket in the crowd by the Hotel Maitre or answer the help wanted ad.

Since their mother passed away, Jani took care of her sister Zosa. Zosa is unique, she has the voice of an angel, and her voice could solve their money problems. So the sisters left their hometown in search of brighter futures. Only things didn't turn out quite as planned until Jani saw a job advertisement in the newspaper.

I loved Hotel Magnifique, even though it's not the usual book I read. Fantasy isn't typically what I reach for, but every once in a while, I find a story that is so fantastical, with mystery and incredible imagery. And then I'm hooked. I would compare Hotel Magnifique to Caraval and Hunger Games.

The writing and storyline are well executed. I enjoyed the pacing of the book. But I would have liked more time to enjoy the hotel's magic before the action happened. I hope there is a sequel; I think there are more adventures for Jani and the gang (what's left).
