This one took a little bit for me to get into but once I did, I was pretty hooked.
Definitely darker than I anticipated and I felt like my jaw might have hung open more than once due to that. I'd say there is a warning for a bit of violence. Nothing too gory or more than a YA reader should read but the warning is still there, just in case.
The description of the setting and scenery was magical, it definitely gave me Caraval feels, which is a good thing! I grew to love the MCs as well as some of the secondary characters, even feeling a bit nervous for them.
There was a good mystery there and it kept me on the edge of my seat. I wasn't sure how it could possibly be solved and
To me, it did have a small twist. I thought the story was going to go one way and then it went differently. Not a complaint, I like being kept on my toes!
