This book is as magnificent as the Hotel's name. Starting with the prologue, it is immediately mysterious, eerie, and fun all rolled into one. The young protagonists (Zosa and her older sister, Jani Lafayette) seem to be orphans; their mother is dead and they live in a home for girls, managed by a mysterious mother figure Madam Bezier. Jani has to work to help feed Zosa. But with the announced pending appearance of the magical Hotel Magnifique and the job posting in the local paper, Jani thinks a brighter future lies ahead, and she plans to take Zosa with her as an entertainer in the hotel.

The description of the hotel sounds like something that would be on the cover of a book by TJ Klune, while the pillows filled with clouds and other magical aspects sound like a contemporary Wonderland of Alice's. What a delight. A new-must read !
