Normally prologues leave something to be desired. They are something that you appreciate after reading more of the book and understand more of the mystery (in other words you read it again later when you know more). This prologue stood out and has the reader ready for the book. While it leaves you in a mystery the world building has already begun. It has a gothic type feel to it, like if the Overlook hotel from The Shinning were its cousin. It seems unique and I cannot wait until it comes out and I can read more!
