This story first appealed to me due to the comparisons to The Night Circus and Caravel. While I can see why those are used as comparisons, I do think this story stands enough on it's own that readers who enjoyed those stories will find something new to enjoy here. In particular, I personally really enjoy the hotel setting and the magical plot that reminds me a bit of Howl's Moving Castle with fantastical doors. I'm eager to read more.
