The prologue sets up the tone of the Hotel Magnifique: this is not a fun, light kind of magic. This magic is dark and sinister. Once we jump in to the main story with our protagonist Jani, we as readers just want to shout, "No! Don't do it!" when she becomes interested in the hotel. I'm loving the Belle Epoque and girl power vibes.
