A spark of magic and mystery.
This book had me at its cover and description and I’m glad to say that the opening chapters are just as captivating. I’m a fan of mystery and/or gothic novels, YA and otherwise, and this one seems to sit comfortably in that genre. I also love how aesthetic and picturesque many of the descriptions are. A quirky and magical atmosphere permeates these pages. The style is simple enough to serve as a warm invitation but there is a definite sense of unease and intrigue as well. I’m really curious about where and how the story is going to move forward. Very strong start and I hope the plot sprawls out with the potential shown in these first few chapters.
