"Honey", by Isabel Banta, in my opinion, was only an okay read. Based on the synopsis, I was expecting a more in depth read. The plot was interesting enough and provided some insight into the not always glamourous life of a pop star. At times, the characters did not seem very genuine. I also felt (without giving anything away) that the ending was a bit of a letdown. My first thought was that this novel was closer to the YA genre. However, some of the graphic content quickly dispelled that idea. It seems to me to be too immature for an adult read and too "over the top" for a YA read. So, I'm not sure of the target audience for this novel. Perhaps I'm missing something since I wasn't a young adult in the 90's. There are certainly enough five-star reviews of this novel, and I would definitely read some of those reviews before making up your mind on this novel.
