I absolutely adored the storyline of “Honey” by Isabel Banta! It read like the 90’s / 2000’s version of “Daisy Jones and the Six,” but with a more readable format since “Honey” was told from a single character’s point of view. This was a slower paced book, but the shorter chapter format helped break it up. I also liked how Banta included excerpts like song lyrics, e-mail chains, and interview transcripts; it definitely added an extra layer to the story!

Admittedly I found most of the characters in this novel to be rather unlikeable and flawed. Nonetheless, they were highly entertaining! My favorite character was Axel, and I was constantly hoping Amber and him would become a couple due to their fantastic chemistry (the Wikipedia entry at the very end made me so happy)! Overall this was a great debut novel packed with nostalgia that was definitely worth the read!
