This book was everything I wanted, just like I had hoped from the first preview of it. Isabel Bantas take on what being a 2000’s pop star was like a walk down memory lane as a teen growing up in that time. I loved the attention to detail in how the book was sectioned, in the layout of a song. That was a wonderful touch. I could see the real life pop stars of my time reflected in the characters of the book as well.

This was Amber Young’s story of her rise to superstardom after having just a dream, and a voice. From first getting picked to round out a new girl group to the trials and tribulations of cutting loose and going solo only to be told she’s a follower to some successful artists that are already there. It’s a story about grit, about how to love yourself in spite of what anyone is saying about you. It’s a love story, and not just in the traditional way. It’s a coming of age story, of finding your true self and coming to terms of what happened in your past.

This book flowed so well for me. And I truly think it was a wonderful first book from a great new author. I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next.
