Reading the first look, I felt so connected to Amber Young, that I began to in a way relive my own childhood of past experiences, failures, and trauma as I navigated becoming a woman, that never ending need for praise and affirmations. The constant feel of a broken yet loving and warm home with fake and mixed valued friends, over eager older men, and the many people out to exploit your talents are the familiar wave of growing up that will take you on a ride. Also paired with the many relationships both failed and not, that will occur throughout the phase of finding oneself, adds to the nostalgia. This insight of Ambers life and backstory really set the tone for the way she begins to grow into and understand her emotions and feelings towards certain things. Some people crave attention, some people crave the silence and solitude, and some people crave to be loved unconditionally without having to “act” for it. I think the author described it perfectly when Amber stated, “ To have hot air blown into you by another persons lips” (Banta, 2024). It would be nice to be placed on a throne, inflated, and let go in order to grow and thrive the way you are intended to do so. In this case, it was the music that ebbed and flowed through Ambers soul. I am by far no singer but I can relate to the passion of doing something with your whole heart while learning to navigate mixed in emotions. This is a beautiful style of writing and I would love to delve deeper into the blooming life of Amber and who she really is.

The art work is creatively done and very much leads to the imaginative work of the author!
