As a member of the Class of '99 (and growing up amid the swirl of Britney, Christina, Jessica, etc.), this book is right up my alley, and the early references from the excerpt already ring clearly true. (Isn't it funny / sad that, 25 years later, we're still shaming young women for their Rolling Stone covers?)

Anyway, my only complaint is that I want more. More about the apartment full of crickets. More about the basement party and the mean girls. More about the talent show as...what? Vindication? Continued dismissal from her peers? I want to linger in her real life a bit more before we head off to stardom. So I guess I will have to wait and see if we go forward and go back. Regardless, I'm looking forward to finding out.
