This book was a lot! I liked the writing. It was interesting to start the story as through the lens of being a child. It helps the reader to experience the story as the author did. I like stories where that happens. It makes the story really interesting and helps me get invested.
The author shares a lot with us- poverty, abuse, drugs, and alcohol use among other things. His relationship with his mother, step fathers, and brother are hard to read. His life changes slowly and over time. And it’s interesting to see how he went from a really hard upbringing to being a successful writer and musician.
