I am absolutely blown away by this book and I highly recommend it! I don’t feel like my words will be adequate enough to describe this powerful, emotional read so I’m not going to say too much. Mikel has a way with words that will draw you in and capture your attention. It’s beautifully written. Hollywood Park is a memoir you won’t forget. It will make your heart ache at times, make you mad, make you happy. Basically, an emotional read that you don’t want to put down! Heartache, anger, frustration, sadness, joy, happiness...you will feel it all but you’ll feel no regret for reading this instead of doing housework. I was shocked when I realized the author is also part of an amazing band that I listen to frequently. It’s very cool learning how a song came to be!
