This book was absolutely magical. The way Mikel is able to make you feel as if you’re a friend of his walking through life with him is nothing short of amazing. He was able to bring you to Hollywood Park with his father. He was able to bring you to cold, damp Seattle, hungry and aching. He was able to bring you to the streets of California, tossed into the water and running down the beach. He was able to show you the meaning of family and understanding you’re not always safe with those you should be able to count on. I laughed and cried throughout the entire journey and I couldn’t stop listening to a life so unique that it felt like fiction. Would highly recommend and one of my absolute favorite memoirs!
