This was a very hard book to get into. The beginning 50 pages was a tough road to get through. The writing was very erratic and I had no idea what the heck was going on.
After page 50, it got a lot better. I really liked the authors descriptions of the places he lived in Oregon and in California.
There was an overall feeling of abandonment throughout the book. It was hard to read some of the negative statements from his mom...you NEVER witnessed that, you NEVER went through that, we NEVER. Even when it had happened.

I could not give this book a 5 star rating since I felt that there was so many parts that were glossed over or never resolved. For instance, did he ever find out if the stepfather who took him fishing was ACTUALLY DEAD?
Also, what were all the drugs that he did as a teenager? In what ways did his dad inspire him?
Outside of Bonnie, did the cult teach him anything?

OVerall its an OK memoir of someone I guess is somewhat famous (I have never heard of this band...so no bias there) who had a somewhat unique childhood.
