Mark my words: this book will be on every bestseller list, every book club list, every anticipated list, every type of bookish list. It is that good.

Jollett’s writing is so raw and realistic, he sucks you in. He writes in the style of what age his point of view is from and that was so powerful for me. You are eagerly wanting to know more, feel more, understand more. You find yourself really wanting to see the happy ending at the end.

I’ve never heard any of The Airborne Toxic Event’s Music, but I’m sure it’s in line with great lyrical writing considering how this is written.

I really just am in awe of this memoir and how tragically beautiful it is. I’ve always been interested in the psyche of cults (mostly those that escape and deprogram) and I felt this was a hard truth that I haven’t seen yet. People survive cults and then you hear the positive of how their life is now. You don’t see the downfall, the struggle, the toll it takes on a family. There were very vivid descriptions of abuse, and that was very hard to get through. However, it was real and not sugarcoated. I cannot rant enough about this book. 5 stars clearly.

Hollywood Park comes out 5.5.2020. I was lucky enough to receive two copies of this amazing memoir from Celadon. (#partner). Do yourself a favor, if you have not read a memoir this year, make this the memoir you read.
