I went into Hollywood Park with no expectations. I was not familiar with Mikel Jollett or his band, Airborn Toxic Event. The first glimpse was great but this memoir is absolutely amazing and beautifully written.
Mikel Jollett recounts his experience in the Synanon cult and being taken away from his parents at 6 months old. His descriptions of the events are so well written that you actually feel like you are right there with him. Sometimes it was hard to believe that this was not a fictional book and was truly a memoir. His ability to tell his story was amazing to watch unfold. This is a book everyone needs to read.
