What a great and powerful story by Mikel Jollett on his childhood and upbringing. I am not usually one to read memoirs but cults and its sociological aspects and influences piqued my interests. Jollett relays his upbringing as a child of parents in a cult. He uses the different "voices" of time that he is relating from and how he is interpreting his environment. His experiences of being on the run and his life with his mother and then his father. This is a very gripping and gritty telling of a life that went through so much to come out alright and overcome his obstacles to go to college and graduate and then become the front man and singer for Airborne Toxic Event. His is a story of strength and courage and overcoming adversity.
