Growing up in a cult seemed like a great idea and a positive change for a boy who had known little but hardship. Only, this is not the kind of religious cult that has the best intentions for little children. Later, the brothers grow up in a completely dysfunctional family of violence adults with hatred toward each other. How does anyone escape that kind of past? How can you grow to be a better person? I'm not sure I have the answer, but something tells me this book will give me a better idea of what it is like to grow up with nothing and come out on the other side.
