Judging by the cover and title of the book, I would not have expected it to be about a violent cult and growing up around addiction, abuse, and death. While this doesn't really seem like my style, I imagine it will be very well received. The sample shows Jollett's skill at capturing the way a child views a situation, as well as the balance of kindness and cruelty that is especially evident in youth. The scenes and emotions are clear-cut and undeniable. Whether people come for the novelty of an ex-cultist, the pain of a difficult childhood, or the intrigue of a favorite band member, I doubt they'll be disappointed.
