This memoir is a story of an underdog who has managed to come out - from my understanding - mostly alright. There are things time, words and apologies can never fix. It's downright difficult to forget events that happen to us that are traumatic - especially when dealing with violence or shame. I can only sympathize with Mikel Jollett as I was incredibly blessed to born into an entirely different kind of family. It takes a lot of guts to share your truth to the general masses.
