I sometimes have a hard time reading memoirs. Even though I know everything is ok, I don't like knowing that person has suffered. This one is no different except it's written on such a way that the author is self aware enough to know ahead of time which passages would rake in sympathy and deftly avoids the trope with humor. I enjoyed this snippet and would love to read more.
