In just three chapters, you can feel all the emotions of a young Mikel. You can feel him grappling with understanding the adults he is surrounded by, as well as the struggle he feels being the "favorite" son and dealing with the repercussions from his older brother. Jollett also does a superb job capturing Tony and all the confusion and pain he feels, as well.
