It can be difficult to relate to someone's life experience when it is something that is so foreign and unknown like growing up in a cult and then having to adjust to life in the "normal" world. However, this memoir gives us as a reader a glimpse into what that adjustment period looks like and, in particular, the difficulties that children had in making that switch. Family relationships are tested and stretched to their limits in these few chapters- it is not easy to read, a dull reminder that no family is perfect as the family's imperfections come to light in different ways. I have read a few memoirs, and this is one that I would absolutely consider reading!
