A Memoir Like a Thriller

Call me a sucker for people who start life with everything against them and end up making music like Mikel Jollett. I’m a music freak and will listen to anything, but some songs come across as if they’ve really been lived to the hilt.

After reading this excerpt from Jollet’s memoir, I’m in so deep that I’m already crying. It proves the old adage that life is stranger than fiction. And what lyricism. It reads like a song. It makes me cringe and gasp and root for him getting that bike. But I chewed a cuticle as he went on, determined to make the $150 any way he could. I was so nervous, waiting for something to happen, for someone to steal his hidden stash. But no. He gets the bike. But then there’s the jealous brother, Tony, the one who won’t work for a bike. I nervously read on. I’m glued to the pages, and then. … I’m on board as an enthusiastic reader and reviewer.

Unfortunately, I don't think the cover helps sell the book. From the front cover, I have no idea what this memoir is about or who it's about.
