Holly Horror by Michelle Jabes Corpora is a young adult horror. Protagonist Evie hopes for a fresh start in a new town following her parents’ divorce. Unfortunately her new house is known to the locals as “Horror House” after a girl who used to line there disappeared from her own bedroom forty years ago. Now, Evie is finding traces of the lost girl remain in the home and is followed by a strange shadow. Soon, Evie begins to question how much of her experiences are hallucinations and she loses dog her grip on reality. Holly Horror is your quintessential haunted house story that delivers as promised. It was spooky, creepy, and unsettling at times, particularly when childhood themes and elements were woven into the story. I think the story could have benefitted from a little more on the history of the lost girl and perhaps a bit more horror. Still, this was a fun read and I would recommend it to fans of light horror.
