I was first drawn to this book because of the gorgeous cover! Then, I read the back description, and thought this book was going to be a fun time! I love a good haunted house story.

I was surprised at how creepy this book was given it seems to be written for a younger YA audience. That's not necessarily a bad thing; I just wasn't expecting that when I started reading.

With that said, I think this will appeal to readers who are just moved on from middle grade horror like R.L. Stine, but aren't quite ready for adult horror like Stephen King. I think older YA readers may find the characters a bit immature. I personally didn't find that the characters were fleshed out as much as they could've been.

I thought the pacing of this book was a bit inconsistent for my liking--like I think some of the twists were rushed through. Like, there were moments that were supposed to be hug end impactful on the reader; but because they were wrapped up so quickly and we moved on from them, they didn't land as well as they could have.

Overall, I think was a good read.
