I won this in a Goodreads Giveaway

I held off reviewing because I wanted to reread to be sure I was being fair. I would rate it 2.5 if I could but I rounded down to a 2 because it would be misleading to give this a 3. Did it have elements? Yes. Juvenile sounding even though it’s not meant for middle schoolers (maybe it is idk)? Another yes. Rushed ending? Also Yes. Put that together with a wonderful premise and what should have worked was mid at best. It felt aimed at a much younger audience than it was labeled for. Don’t get me wrong, middle school kids would love this maybe but for an adult audience? It doesn’t work. This book read and sounded like 12-13 year olds both read it and were the MCs which haha in, I know a full grown adult read and at least one edited and maybe that fits with the late teens they know but even my 12 and 14 year olds who also read this said it sounded ridiculous and young to them. As in, even younger than them. So that along with a subpar plot and prose gets a 2.5 from me
