Decent read; read the other books 1st

This book is part of a series. If I had read the other books prior to this one , I may have been more invested in the characters, understood their back stories more and therefore, really got into the book more. It was slow to start and felt weighed down in some areas. The mystery itself (which was a pretty cool premise, spanning decades, and a interesting resolution) sometimes felt like and after thought to the rest of the story. I did (literally) laugh out loud in some parts (the writing of the banter between characters was fanatic)! Overall, I thought it was a decent book. Maybe I will read the rest in the series....Thank you to the publisher and author for the arc in exchange for an honest review!
