1952 Murders Kill Chief of Police Harry McNeil was unhappy to be awakened at 4 am. He was even unhappier that is was pouring down rain. This was a beautiful raven-haired young woman killed in Cossayuharie. She was wearing a party dress but no stockings or shoes. And no apparent reason of death. The State Trooper Carruthers immediately assumed she was a prostitute and died of exposure. But this seemed hardly likely since it was August. Carruthers resented being sent to this hick part of the state and treated the cases off-handily. The trooper Jack Liddle, his people dating back 200 years in this county, took things more seriously. He suggested the woman was dumped there. 1972 Now Jack is the Chief of Police and it looks like an identical crime has been committed. This time they have a suspect, A Vietnam Vet who found the body. Jack's men just assume he is guilty because everyone knows that Vietnam Vets come home stone-cold killers. Present-day former Vietnam Vet accused of the 1972 crime is now Chief of Police Russ van Alstyne and there is again a woman dead in Chossayurie. It is time to find the killer.
