I liked how the author quickly yet evocatively sets the historical scene of the unsolved crimes, going back more than half a century. We care about the local police from 1952, and it will continue through to the present day. It’s startling to see Russ in the brief 1972 scene— but adds depth to the entire series. Present day scenes are tantalizing; cannot wait for the first scene between Claire and Russ!
