I am such a fan of this series, and I love when the author includes connections to the past events and people of Millers Kill. With this story going back to 1952 and 1972, it promises plenty of connections and a deeply layered murder mystery. Three dead young women, decades apart, but all three wearing party dresses and found along the same road with no apparent cause of death. Three Millers Kill Chiefs of Police tasked with solving the impossible. Russ Van Alstyne, the current Chief of Police, has his hands full with a group of citizens who are questioning the need for a police department in Millers Kill, as well as a four-month old baby with his wife Clare Fergusson, when the new case of the third girl comes up. I'm looking forward to what Clare's part will be in this story, too.

The book's cover is another outstanding one in the series, too. The gold lettering of the author's name against the blue of the sky is beautiful, and I love the subtlety of the title words hidden in the tall grass.
