Intriguing Crime Story with Ties to the Past!

I'm not familiar with this author or the beloved characters in this series but this description grabbed my interest and didn't let go. The crime story's ties to similar crimes in the past along with the detective's personal ties as well sounded beyond intriguing to me. Also, the relationship between the detective and his reverend wife was interesting - and quite unique - as well. The cover is quite snazzy as well and really pulls you into the story. Loved the nod to the church steeple in the background too.
