I've been waiting to read this book for so long!
I'm so excited to read the next installment in this series! It's been such a long time coming. I enjoy reading mysteries, and I prefer them to be well-written. Julia Spencer-Fleming is among my favorite mystery authors because she writes descriptively, pulling you into the story, without boring you with unnecessary details. Her protagonists are complex and fascinating, and the relationship between Claire and Russ is compelling.
My first impression of the new book makes me anxious to read more. I love the way it takes us back to before Russ was even in the police force. It is always interesting to learn more about characters' backstories through flashbacks. And I hope we get to see more about what Russ was like when he first returned from Vietnam. The jacket design seems perfect, very reminiscent of previous books in the series, to make readers feel like they're reconnecting with old friends. I can't wait to read it!
