A part of me was sad to read the excerpt, leaving that much less for me to settle into when I get the book! Still it was wonderful to slowly enter the portal back into Miller's Kill and the folks who live there. The tale opens like a sock with holes in the heel. You know the author has plans to darn it while we watch. I am looking forward to reading this latest work from Julia Spencer-Fleming on a Winter evening with the phone turned off!
